Captain Forever IO

Captain Forever IO is the multiplayer take on the cult ship-building shooter Captain Forever. Your ship is a construction set: girders, thrusters and guns bolted together — and every enemy you destroy breaks into parts you can grab and attach.

How to Play

Fly through space, fight pirate ships and other players, and rebuild your ship on the fly from the wreckage. Shoot a module off an enemy ship and it's yours: drag it onto your hull to add firepower, speed or armor. Lose modules in battle and you'll limp away — or improvise a new design mid-fight.

• Fly: WASD / arrow keys

• Attach / detach modules: Drag with mouse

Ship Design Is Everything

There's no fixed hull: a long spine of girders makes a fragile sniper, a compact block of armor makes a brawler. Thruster placement changes handling, gun placement changes firing arcs. Every fight literally takes your ship apart, so good design survives damage gracefully.

Tips

• Protect your command core — losing it means losing everything

• Symmetric thruster placement keeps the ship controllable

• Higher-grade (colored) modules are worth rebuilding around

• Aim for the joints: cutting a ship in half disables everything behind the cut

• Don't over-build: huge ships are slow, and speed is armor too
